Oh, hell no! One thing was for Law to cover himself in hearts and even go so far as to clad his privates in heart-patterned underwear if that was his ‘thing’, his ‘thunder’. But to extend his motif beyond himself and force Ace to switch spades for hearts was a big no-no!
Who the hell did Traffaroo think he was? Some pet he could dress up just for fun while inflicting mild animal cruelty on the poor critter? Why, Ace didn’t even wear pyjamas, let alone garments made of silk like Law did. He liked the cup and the sunglasses, though.
“What’s all this for?” Ace opened the temples of the glasses and adjusted them on his nose. He sorta looked like a Muppet and it was alright. “Did a Valentine’s store explode or something?”
Ace had no idea whether stores specialised in Valentine’s Day knickknacks existed or not but the explosion of one was the only explanation he could find for Law to give him an entire pack of heart-decorated items ranging from apparel to home decor. Had he missed Black Friday?
In his defence, though, while he did not get the three-word message Law was sending, Ace did make a connection with the gift and the holiday of love - and that meant he was not a lost cause after all.
